Autumn leaves may have been starting to fall on their plates for the competition, but that did not deter members from allowing themselves to be transported back to the summer holiday season and enjoy the samples of ice cream provided by this month’s speaker.
Robin Dennett is a member of the well known Lincolnshire family firm, which was started initially by his father and grandfather who were dairy farmers.
He gave a brief history of the introduction of producing ice cream as a support to milk production and the gradual diversification to what has become a nationally famous product.
He talked of the continual introduction of different flavours to keep consumers happy and ensure the continued success of the business and distributed samples of vanilla ice cream made with cream, a raspberry yoghurt ice cream and a lemon sorbet which were all very much enjoyed by his audience.
The best flower of the month displays - an arrangement of autumn leaves on a plate - were shown by Kate Smith, Ruby Willoughby and Stella Gray.
