Sheila Minns, the chairman of the Barkwith and District Gardeners’ Association, was welcomed back at the annual meeting after a period of illness.
The speaker for the evening was Michael Bradley, who attracted a good attendance of members as he talked through a beautiful selection of digital slides.
As he did so, he recalled happy memories for those who had travelled with Les Robinson on his many coach outings during the year.
The flower of the month competition was won by Jean Thompson.
The annual prize for the member who had gained the most points in the monthly competition during the year was presented to Shirley Booth.
Secretary Chris Rayner gave her detailed report, recording the speakers and demonstrators enjoyed at the monthly meeting.
Thanks were given to Yvonne Bryson and Shirley Booth, who run raffles and a tombola at each event to give a boost to funds. In her report, the chairman thanked all the members for their support, in particular the committee members who, although few in number, worked hard to keep the club going.
A special thank-you was extended to Les Robinson for all the time and effort he puts into his outings programme.
There was no election for the committee, as there were only five nominations and Sheila Minns, Chris Raynor, Jean Thompson, Lyn Small and Les Robinson were re-elected.
The officers will be appointed at the first committee meeting and appreciation was expressed to all who had volunteered to help whenever there was a need.
Seasonal refreshments were served at the close of business.
