Garden expert Sue digs in for society medal

CELEBRATIONS are underway at Snitterby-based after news that its gardening expert, Sue Hoy, has collected a renowned industry award.

Sue collected her award from HRH Princess Alexandra at the RHS’s President’s Dinner at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show on Monday, July 4.

She is one of the two people to receive the honour this year, the award being granted to those who have made a significant contribution to horticulture in the North England.

Sue also received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Harlow Car Medal and attended the ceremony along with 15 prominent horticulturists who received a range of accolades.

Sue is a prolific woman, expressing her passion and talents in broadcasting, blogging and writing a weekly column, which is described by director of Zoe Henderson as “great down-to-earth advice.”

She was a former head speaker at Normanby Hall and has gained a strong reputation from her popular speaking sessions.

Sue said the award was “a fantastic honour.”

She added: “Passing on my knowledge to others and inspiring them to garden has been one of the great joys of my career.”
