Ascot hats and fascinators added to the atmosphere as members welcomed visitors to a garden party to celebrate the centenary of the WI, held at Kingfisher, by kind permission of Bernard and Kate Wright.
On a lovely afternoon, all were able to sit and enjoy the end of the summer sun, with cups of tea and slices of cake chosen from the tempting display.
Guests also had the opportunity to explore the delightful and surprisingly extensive garden and buy raffle tickets to raise funds for the WI’s chosen charity this year, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
The many prizes included an impressive celebration cake made and decorated by WI president Mary Hoban, which was won by Yvonne Twitchett.
Donations could also be made to the charity for the refreshments and the total amount raised amounted to more than £400, which included proceeds from the auction sale of produce held at the WI’s annual harvest.
