His programme also gets increasingly ambitious as after starting out with just a few day trips, he has added two extended visits this year.

There will be a five-day trip to the Isle of Man in June and a shorter three day visit to Shropshire in May.

Venues for day visits include the Harrogate Spring Show on Saturday, April 12, Scampston Walled Gardens near York on Thursday, July 17, Boughton House, Kettering Wednesday, July 30, Loughborough to the Bell Foundry and market on Thursday, October 30 and the Churches Flower Festival in the south of the county on Friday, May 2.

The highlight of the annual programme of day trips is the Christmas special, which this year is on Tuesday, December 2 to Kiplin Hall near Scotch Corner, which will be decorated for the festive season.

Les starts taking bookings a year in advance.
