Caistor WI delved into the science of DNA with Dr Katy Hewis for their February meeting. Members squashed strawberries for a simple experiment to extract the DNA and learned how DNA is used in forensics today.
They also presented a cheque for £100, proceeds from their harvest auction, to Cruse Bereavement Care.
The competition for a spiral object was won by Carol Mackenzie, with Judith France second and Wendy Handford third.
The Flower of the month was won by Judith Hewis, with Wendy Handford second and Jenny Foster third.
The next meeting will be ‘Dyeing on the Lawn’ with Lu Coultas, on March 5 in Caistor Town Hall at 7.30pm.
New members and visitors are always welcome (visitors £3).
