Dakota flies in for Victory day

A FLY-PAST by the Dakota of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will grace the skies over Brigg this Friday, May 4.

Organised by Chris Witty of Brigg Amateur Social Historians (BASH), this fly-past will precede the 1940s night, to commemorate VE Day, at the Brigg and District Sevicemen’s Club, starting at 8pm.

The Douglas C-47 Dakota played a crucial part in the Second World War as a transport aircraft; it was used to carry troops and freight and the air-dropping of supplies, most famously during the D-Day landings and the airborne assault at Arnhem in 1944.
