Carols galore with Rotary

Rotary Carol Concert
Rotary Carol Concert

Christmas is a special time for music and there is nothing better than enjoying some seasonal songs and helping raise money for charity too.

And one of the best events to do just that in Market Rasen is at the annual Rotary Carol Concert.

For the ninth year in a row, the concert will be held in the magnificent setting of the town’s Methodist Chapel.

Superintendent Minister the Rev Andrew Lomax will give a warm welcome, before handing over to the Rev Charles Patrick and Rotary President Derek Anderson as hosts.

Children from the primary schools at Middle Rasen, Market Rasen and, for the first time, Legsby, will each perform two songs, before coming together for a massed piece.

They will be joined on stage through the evening by the talented members of Market Rasen Resdev Training Band, under the baton of David Picksley.

Members of Market Rasen District Choral Society will also be performing three pieces from Handel’s Messiah.

And making a special appearance, as always, will be Father Christmas, armed with gifts for all the boys and girls.

During the evening, Rotary Community Award will be presented too.

The Rotary Carol Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 11, starting at 7pm.

Light refreshments will be served by the ladies of the Methodist Church in the school room after the concert.

The Rotary Ladies will also be on hand collecting for local cancer charity Candles, which supports the work of Professor Eriman at Lincoln Hospital, who is researching into ways our own immune systems can be used to fight cancer.
