There was a welcome return visit by Marilyn Roberts to the October meeting of Brigg Amateur Social Historians (BASH), who gave an illustrated presentation on Queen Elizabeth I.
Marilyn spoke about Elizabeth’s parents. Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, and how before she was three years old her mother was beheaded on the orders of her father.
She became Queen at the age of 25 and ruled for almost 45 years; the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty, dying just before her 70th birthday in 1603.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, November 5, Lynda Hotchkiss will give an illustrated talk on “Life Below Stairs.”
