Jeanette Fortnum gave a very emotional talk regarding her charity work for the Chernobyl Children lifeline at the September meeting.
The selling of hand crafted items from that region and the money raised by a special raffle, plus the money donated for the fresh produce on offer in the Harvest auction, made for a very successful fundraising evening, which ended with everyone enjoying the hot food laid on by the committee members.
Next month, on Thursday October 2, Dr Kate Hewis will be talking on forensic science, with an emphasis on DNA finger printing.
There will also be a ‘have a go’ session at extracting DNA from a strawberry.
The meeting starts at 7.15pm, doors open at 7pm, and visitors, admission £3.50, are always welcome.
