A coach outing to the south of the county to visit a selection of churches taking part in the Annual Flower Festival in the Fens was back on the programme of trips this year by special request and those who joined the party had a full and interesting day out.
As usual, the coach left early to make the most of the day and, by prior arrangement, Sutterton Parish Church was opened up before the official time to enable the coach party to look round at their leisure.
A tremendous amount of time, energy and talent goes into the decorations by church members of each village.
And this is a tradition that seems to be carried on from one generation to the next as at Long Sutton they were celebrating their 60th year of taking part in the festival.
Each church has its own theme for the celebration and all have various stalls to browse around as well as delightful flower arrangements for visitors to admire and each one offers refreshment.
Fulney was next on the agenda for the coach party, followed by West Pinchbeck and on to their last church at Donington.
Then it was off to the Black Bull, where an excellent meal was enjoyed, as well as the chance to reflect on their lovely day touring round the parishes.
