Your chance to join in with the nation’s favourite recreational pastime is now available -if you live in Brigg.
Gardening – done by an estimated 10 million people at their own homes or at allotments nationwide - is a more popular pastime than football or fishing.
Brigg Town Council now has allotments up for grabs – and no waiting list to take up a tenancy for the first time for several years.
The council’s Property and Services Committee heard at its monthly meeting that several tenants had been warned about failing to cultivate their land at the Grammar School Road site and a deadline was issued by the clerk for winter preparation and planting.
Now the town clerk says vacancies at the site are available.
One problem for those doing winter digging is water pipe problems at the site have resulted from the sale of the old Red Cross site and underground water pipes supplying the allotments are needing to be traced by the Water Authority.
