Second-generation four-seater gains six new models

The forthcoming Los Angeles motor show will see half a dozen new iterations of the forthcoming Porsche Panamera. With so many versions becoming available, the price range will go from £66,386 to £122,480, meaning there is a Panamera as competition across quite a few sectors. Something for everyone from BMW to Aston Martin to be concerned about.

The range starts with a rear-wheel drive Panamera, with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 325bhp. That’s the car that starts the price list. There will also be a four-wheel drive version, the Panamera 4, which comes with the same engine and will cost £69,412.

These are joined by four other models, which feature a stretched wheelbase and four-wheel drive. They are: Panamera 4 Executive; Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Executive; Panamera 4S Executive and the Panamera Turbo Executive. It’s this last option which has the £122,480 price tag.

All four have a 15cm longer wheelbase, pushing overall length to 5200mm. The first of them has the same engine as the entry-level pair, but the Panamera 4S Executive gets a more powerful motor.

This is a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 pumping out 434bhp, but in the Turbo Executive there is a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with 542bhp. The E-Hybrid has the 2.9-litre V6 with an electric motor, giving the vehicle a combined output of 456bhp.

The longer-wheelbase cars get upgraded equipment including adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), heated seats and a panoramic roof. There is also the option of a new centre console in the rear, which can hold two folding tables for eating lunch on the go or for whatever other activity you can think of.

With so many cars across such a wide price range we’re expecting to see the new Panamera challenging the existing leaders in several sectors.
