It is an amazing fact that a sacred Baroque Oratorio, written by an immigrant German musician and first performed in Dublin in 1742 should have become such a key focus of the Christmas choral tradition.

Handel’s ‘Messiah’ was performed with wonderful composure and competence by Market Rasen Choral Society, under the direction of their conductor Geoff Blewitt, and guest soloists, backed by Lincoln Pro Musica Orchestra.

In 2013, the society celebrates 25 years of performing quality music in the Market Rasen and Caistor area and a celebration concert will be held at the same venue, De Aston Sports Hall, on Saturday, April 27. (by Peter Thompson)
