Lincoln’s Theatre Royal will be packing a party this autumn when Viva La Drag! comes to town.
Fresh from its latest critically-acclaimed West End run, directed by Kylie Minogue’s creative director William Baker, with songs especially composed by Boy George, the show comes to the Lincoln stage on Thursday, October 9.
The plot of Viva la Drag! charts the rise from rags to the queens of drag of the Supreme Fabulettes – a close harmony group. . . with a difference.
The “girl” group’s razor-tongued manager, played by Miss Sheila Simmonds, navigates band splits and solo hits, against a backdrop of backstabbing, love and tears played for laughs by four of the UK’s top drag artistes - Vicki Vivacious, Vanilla Lush, Portia De Fosse and Silver Summers.
And they will be joined for the show by The Voice finalist Sam Buttery.
“Drag queens are a time-honoured tradition and the production brings the art form into the 21st century, courtesy of a show that features amazing harmonies by very talented singers performing today’s chart toppers along with classic hits,” said the show’s producer Michael Taylor.
