FOLLOWING their successful visit last year, performers from the Kala Chethena Kathakali Company make a welcome return to the Riverhead Theatre at Louth this month.
Kathakali – We are What We Wear interprets the influence India had on textiles, clothes and lifestyle of the people of England.
As William Shakespeare was performing his plays in England, Kathakali was being performed in southern India. Both were supported by royalty, used costumes which were difficult to wear and had a tradition of men performing as female characters in highly-emotional symbolic plays.
The performance takes place this Friday, November 18, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £9 and £8 from the box office on 01507 600350.
