A brand new adaptation of Emily Brontë’s unyielding story of love and obsession will be performed in the open air by Chapterhouse Theatre.
And the setting for this classic tale is The Old Palace in Lincoln’s Minster Yard.
Chapterhouse has established a tradition in period plays with critically acclaimed, sell-out performances of Austen and Gaskell adaptations, but this year they are showcasing their first venture into the slightly grittier world of the Brontës for their open-air tour.
Wuthering Heights will be performed on Sunday, August 24 at 6pm.
Script writer, Laura Turner, says she feels honoured to have had the opportunity to adapt one of her all time favourite romantic novels.
“It’s a challenging story to adapt, panning two generations, but I hope that I have managed to instil all the passion and wildness of Emily Brontë’s masterpiece and that people fall for Catherine and Heathcliff just as I have.”
Tickets available from The Old Palace on 01522 580000 or Lincoln Drill Hall 01522 873894.
