Alan Bennett’s The History Boys is the February Play at Louth’s Riverhead Theatre.
Made famous by the film featuring the late Richard Griffiths and the loveable James Corden, this play is being presented by The Lincoln Company - – a talented troupe of students and graduates from the University of Lincoln’s School of Performing Arts, who will be joined on stage by a trio of Lincoln actors.
Set during the 1980s within a fictional boys’ grammar school in the heart of Sheffield, the play follows a group of history students preparing for Oxford and Cambridge entrance examinations under the guidance of three eccentric teachers; exploring issues of staff-room rivalry, the anarchy of adolescence and the complex relationships that exist between staff and students.
The production, which uses a combination of dynamic staging and multimedia content, marks the third consecutive year students from the Lincoln School of Performing Arts have embarked on a tour of Lincolnshire’s theatres.
The History Boys runs from Monday, February 17 to Saturday, February 22.
Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £5 from the box office on 01507 600350 between 10am-1pm Monday-Saturday or via the website www.louthplaygoers.com anytime.
