Rustic junior rangers needed for half term

YOUNGSTERS will be encouraged to create their own gardens by gathering seeds at Chambers Farm Wood.

The Forestry Commission is staging a rustic junior rangers event in the 360 hectare beauty spot near Wragby on Sunday, October 25 to gather seed, which can then be taken away to plant at home.

Ranger Mary Porter, who will lead a foraging party to collect acorns and seeds from wild flowers, field maple and berries, said:

“It’s a great way to learn more about nature and have a go at cultivating a little bit of the forest in your garden or for your school or community areas.”

The event runs from 10am to 1pm and costs £5 per child.

It is suitable for children aged over six years old.

Booking is required on 01623 822447.
