FANCY a Heavenly Blond?

This is one of the selection of beers and ciders that will be on offer at a Beer Festival in Woodhall Spa this weekend.

Final preparations are now underway for the Saturday event.

It is being held in the gardens of The Golf Hotel by kind permission of Raju Patel.

The event is being organised by Woodhall Spa and Horncastle Round Table, and the proceeds are going to The Cottage Museum in Woodhall Spa and The Church Farm Museum in Skegness.

One of the objectives of Round Table is to fundraise for local and national charities.

Round Table are often known for travelling the streets of Horncastle and Woodhall Spa at Christmas time with Father Christmas and his sleigh raising money for their chosen charitable organisation.

Shaun Whiting, Round Table Chairman, said, “The last two years the weather has been too bad for us to take the sleigh around the streets.

“Last year one of our members fell over on the ice in Woodhall Spa, and the year before the Sleigh was snow bound in Horncastle.

“For this reason we wanted to come up with an alternative fundraising event that hopefully the weather couldn’t spoil.”

As well as a variety of beers and ciders with such names as Heavenly Blonde and Dozy Bull, food is also available throughout the afternoon and evening.

Ongoing entertainment is provided by a variety of bands including Streamline and Stories from the Playground.

Tickets for the Beer Festival are £10per person and include two halves and a souvenir Beer Tankard.

Peter Lee, Round Table Vice Chairman and organiser of the event said “In spite of the recession we have had some fantastic support and sponsorship from the local business community which will enable us to donate more money to our local heritage museums.”

Tickets for the event are available from The Cottage Museum in Woodhall Spa, The Abbey Lodge in Kirkstead or by calling Peter Lee 07500 945998.

Round Table still hope to be able to help Father Christmas again in December, but it will all depend on the weather.
