This year’s street party gives you a day at the seaside with pirates ahoy too, as Caistor Goes....Nautical - and the best thing of all is its all free to enjoy.
Taking place in the market place this Saturday, July 12, the fun starts at 5pm, when Deputy Mayor Carol MacKenzie will open the event and children from Whitegate Kindergarten crown the Lion in the traditional way with a party hat.
Then be prepared to set sail on the high seas and on land at the promenade, pier and holiday camp.
Live music, fancy dress and carnival parade - with cash prizes - the Earthbound Misfits and fun competition - knobbly knees, glamorous granny - all feature throughout the action packed evening, which continues until 10pm.
This year is the 17th annual street party, with fun for the whole family.
Here’s the line up of planned times:
5pm Opening by Deputy Mayor of Caistor Coun Carol MacKenzie; Whitegate Kindergarten children crown the Lion with his party hat in the traditional start to the annual street party
The Anagram Competition, sponsored by THE TEA COSY CAFE, pick up a sheet by the Lion, unravel the mixed up words and you could be a winner
5.05pm The Midnight Ramblers, Back by popular demand, The talented rock band
6pm GREENACRES CARE HOME - Carnival Parade- Caistor is not big enough for loads of lorries. We want a carnival parade of seaside, beach holiday,pirate floats— pushchairs, prams, wheelbarrows, shopping trolleys - participants in costume. 1st £50, 2nd £30, 3rd £20
6.15 QUICKLINE COMMUNICATIONS - Pirate Theme Children’s Fancy Dress 2-7yrs/8-11yrs. Both groups 1st £25, 2nd £15, 3rd £10 WH Smith vouchers; Punch & Judy with Nutty Norman, plus magic & balloon modelling among the audience
6.40pm Gilbert & Sullivan Pirates of Penzance with our own virtuosos
6.50pm The Earthbound Misfits on stage with their own brand of lunacy and more during the evening; QUICKLINE COMMUNICATIONS - Glamorous Grannies. We have loads of lovely mature ladies in Caistor. Let’s have a beauty parade. 1st £30. 2nd £20; CAISTOR POST OFFICE - Knobbly Knees competition (male or female) 1st £30, 2nd £20. Decorate those lovely knees with make up, glitter or the enhancement of your choice.
7.30pm Seas of Mirth - The original Pirate Band.
8.45pm WHITE HART - Bathing Belles. New Year’s Eve has often seen big-busted, hairy-chested beauties out on the town! So come on guys now it’s swimming costume time. 1st £30, 2nd £20
8.55pm Result of Anagram Competition.
9pm The Moggies - the famous and much loved band playing great party music.
And for your added entertainment there is Fantasy Faces (face painter).
And don’t forget to have your photo taken at the end of the pier as you poke your head through CATS Pirates body photo cut out board.
Food and drink - Tea Cosy Cafe, Cornhill enjoy a birds eye view of the street party from your seat in the Cafe in Cornhill, over top of Caistor Loco (also open Sunday for the 10k Samba Run); The White Hart, South Street; The Settlement, Market Place; Brigsley Ice Cream van; Savages Fish & Chips, adjacent to Co-op, open till 10pm; Micks Caistor Chippy, Market Place; Pizza Uno, Market Place; Caistor Chinese, Market Place; Niraj Indian Takeaway, adjacent to SPAR, Horsemarket; JOOMLA Indian Restaurant, adjacent to Co-op; SPAR Horsemarket; CO-OP High Street.
CAISTOR & GRASBY SCOUTS - Local scouts will be manning a stall full of consumable goodies to raise funds to send members to the International Jamboree. Between July 28 and August 8 2015, 3,500 Scouts and Guides from across the UK will be joining others from around the world in Kirara-hama, Japan for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree.
TRAFFIC PARKING & DIVERSIONS - Saturday July 12 and Sunday July 13 - there will be NO PARKING in the market place from 1pm on Saturday to 5pm on Sunday. Alternative parking is available in Multi Use Centre Car Park, Town Hall Car Park, North Kelsey Road Sports Ground Entrance, on Street locally.
The Road Closures have been approved by Lincolnshire County Council Highways Authority - diversion route will be via Southdale, A46, Grimsby Road
BUSES: Buses will be diverted on Saturday July 12 from 2pm via Southdale, THEY WILL NOT COME INTO THE MARKET PLACE. There will be a temporary bus stop on Southdale opposite the Police Station. The changes will be posted in the bus shelters
