No BAFTA, but thanks for Jim

HOMEGROWN actor Jim Broadbent missed out on an award at this weekend’s BAFTAs but received an accolade from the co-star of his latest film.

Meryl Streep picked up the Outstanding Actress award for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady and said of her co-star, who plays Denis Thatcher: “I want to thank the soulful Jim Broadbent.”

Ms Streep also claimed connections to Lincolnshire through her own ancestors, the Wilkinsons, but leading genealogists can only find connections for her tree to Wilkinsons further north in the Durham area of the 1600s.
