There is yet another twist on the Blues genre at this week’s Sunday session at The Hope Tavern as they welcome Wooden Horse.
The Midlands-based trio comprises the powerful vocals and guitar of Jamie Knight and the bottleneck and finger-picking skills of Ben Church – powered by Weissenborn guitar, acoustic and 12 string guitar, banjo, harmonica and stomp box.
Created by Jamie and Ben three years ago, Wooden Horse cook up a finely honed set of exuberant style of blues covering country and folk laced acoustic blues and Americana.
And completing the trio is Stuart McIlroy, who joins up on keyboard duties after playing with the likes of Carl Perkins and Bill Lee Riley and, as you would expect, adds a boogie style to the band that is guaranteed to get you up and moving.
Now receiving national acclaim for their latest CD, together with great reviews on the festival circuit, Wooden Horse is sure to provide the Holton le Moor venue with another afternoon to remember.
The gig starts at the usual time of 4pm and the door charge is £8.
