Jazz singer and songwriter Juliet Kelly will be taking to the stage at Tealby Village Hall this week to provide an evening of stylish music.
Having taken the jazz scene by storm with her distinctive velvety voice, mesmerising songs and glamorous jazz style, Juliet presents her tribute to the jazz divas that have inspired and influenced her.
Her sound perfectly encapsulates the glamour of the jazz divas of a bygone age - with a modern and sassy twist.
Juliet has worked with high profile jazz performers, such as Courtney Pine, produced three critically acclaimed albums and performed a series of sell-out concerts across the UK.
With songs from some of the most loved singers - including Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holliday - Celebrating the Divas of Jazz with Juliet Kelly will be at Tealby Village Hall on Friday, October 19, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £9 in advance, £10 on the door, with under 18s £3, and are available from the village shop 01673 838718 or 838571.
This performance is one of many from this season’s Lincolnshire Rural and Community Touring programme, which has been bringing professional live theatre, dance, music and children’s shows to rural venues across the county for more than 10 years.
Venues range from village halls to schools and other community spaces, where local volunteers and promotors select and host performances, sell tickets and publicise the shows.
Another local venue taking advantage of the touring scheme is Grasby Village Hall, who welcome Proteus Theatre this Saturday, October 20, with their production of The Secret Garden.
This well-loved children’s classic is brought to life with a fusion of circus, puppetry, film and music in a magical journey beyond the door into the garden of imagination.
Mary Lennox is lost and lonely, sent away from her home in India she finds herself in the wilds of Yorkshire in a vast mansion owned by a distant uncle.
Soon the house begins to give up its mysterious stories, but can she find the key to the secret garden and discover what is inside?
The show starts at 7pm and is suitable for those aged five and above.
