A band currently taking the UK festival scene by storm is the latest top act to appear at The Hope Tavern Sunday blues sessions.
Hailing from Co Monaghan,Irish guitarist/vocalist Grainne Duffy is a unique talent, raw and powerful, edgy and elegant.
She performs a wonderful mix of blues, rock and soul in her original material and a few carefully selected standards.
Such was the immediate reaction to her first album release, she started taking her music abroad to places as far flung as the Arctic island of Svalbard, Norway.
She was then asked to appear for three days at Glastonbury, where she shared the stage with Joan Baez, Suzanne Vega, Sinead O Connor, Seasick Steve and The Blockheads to name but a few.
She opened the acoustic stage on day one with her full band with what was to be an unforgettable performance with the audience rising to their feet mid-performance.
The Grainne Duffy Band will be appearing at the Holton le Moor venue this Sunday, July 7, from 4pm; door charge is £8.
