Making music is a shared pastime of Barnetby Silver Band and Caistor Male Voice Choir and they joined forces for a concert in St Barnabas Church, Barnetby.

Conducted by Sam Ringrose, their musical director, the band’s soloists were Rob Marshall on cornet, Kerry Hoy on tenor horn and Melanie Hanson on euphonium.

Caistor Male Voice Choir were under the direction of Ray Wylie and accompanist was Esther Peterson.

Apart from performing their own items, band and choir joined together for the appropriate All in the April Evening and a rousing rendition of Parry’s Jerusalem.

Barnetby Junior Band, again conducted by Sam Ringrose, also played.

Proceeds were shared between the two musical groups.

Barnetby Silver Band will have a big date in June when they play at Ripon Cathedral.

“It will be the first time the Band has been in a competition for 13 years and we will be playing in Ripon Cathedral on June 1 in an entertainment concert,” said Sam Ringrose.

“That means we pick the programme to play in front of the judges. It will be very special to play in such a splendid setting.”
