More events for free heritage days

MORE events have been added to the Lincolnshire Heritage Open weekend.

Every year, attractions across the county open their doors to show people what they have to offer.

This year’s free open days will run on various days and times between Thursday, September 8 and Sunday, September 11.

There are buildings and locations all over the county open for this scheme.

Whether you like to visit castles or learn about interesting people in history, there is something for everyone.

Some of the Open Days in the Horncastle area include:

l Bardney Kitching Lecture, Bardney Church, Church Lane, Bardney, Thursday only from 7.30pm.

A lecture on special events of the past including harvest customs, superstitions, traditions and seasonal fairs.

The evening will include songs about Brigg and Horncastle Fair with a collection of local postcards.

l Bardney Heritage Centre, Station Road - Bardney Abbey Dig 2011 Revealed, Thursday-Sunday, 11am-3pm.

An exhibition based around the Bardney Abbey Excavation which tool place in the summer of 2011. Includes photos, video and artefacts from the dig.

l Kirkstead/Woodhall Spa Junction Open Day, Sunday only, 11am-4pm.

l Teulon in Lincolnshire - an exhibition of architect S S Teulon’s Lincolnshire commissions, which included St Mary’s and the former rectory at Harrington, Harrington Church, Saturday, 10am-5pm.
