TAKE a walk in the woods and see some amazing insects.
The Forestry Commission stages its popular glow worm walk in Chambers Farm Wood on Friday, June 17.
The little insect is in fact a beetle, not a worm, and females produce a soft light in their tails during early summer nights to attract males.
During last year’s public safari through the 340 hectare beauty spot, near Wragby, the temperature dipped below 10 degrees centigrade, too cold according to some experts for the beetle to light up, but undaunted more than 20 illuminated creatures were seen in the undergrowth.
The walk, costing £5 per person, meets at 10pm at the Chambers Farm Wood Centre. off the B1206 Bardney to Wragby road,
