Legendary comedian and TV personality Jasper Carrott is to return to The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe almost 40 years after his last, iconic performance.

The Birmingham-born comic put Scunthorpe on the map as he recalled his show at the venue in 1975 on his legendary ‘Live at the London Palladium’ performance.

It has now been announced he will return to the town for a show at The Baths Hall on Friday, September 5 2014.

At his ‘Live at the London Palladium’ show, Jasper recalls being booked for an appearance in Scunthorpe following the success of his hit single ‘Funky Moped’.

He claims to have been booked as a band, rather than a comedian, and that staff at the venue were shocked to find him turning up alone, without other musicians.

Dan Harris, General Manager of The Baths Hall, said: “Jasper Carrott’s performance at The Baths Hall on November 15, 1975 was immortalised on his ‘Live at the London Palladium’ recording.

“The story that he was booked as a musical act following his hit single ‘Funky Moped’ is well versed in Scunthorpe and I’m delighted to be able to confirm he will return to the town in 2014.

“It will be almost 40 years since that famous performance in Jasper’s early days as a comedian and he’s had a fantastic career since.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of interest in the show including the return of many of those who saw him first time around.”
