Roll up Roll up for a whole day of fun down at The Northcote Heavy Horse Centre this Sunday, June 22, as they hold their Summer Fete.

Enjoy a full packed programme of horse demonstrations, an aerial performance, birds of prey, fire performances, egg and spoon races and traditional games, as well of lots of stalls kids rides, and general fun for all the family.

And you can meet the horses too.

The centre’s tea-room will be open and there will be a BBQ as well as a licensed bar.

The day is put on by volunteers who help to run the charity, which takes in horses and ponies that would have had nowhere else to go.

Whatever the reason - owner circumstances, abuse or behavioural - the centre will provide a home for them for life.

The Centre receives no grants or funding, so these days are very important to raise the funds for the horses’ keep, and even more so with the last event in May having had to be cancelled due to heavy rainfall.

Gates open on Sunday at 10.45am and the fun gets under way at 11.15am; the day ends with meeting the horses at 3pm.

Admission is £5 for adults and £3.50 for child/OAP and all money raised goes straight to the care of the resident horses that live at the charity.

The centre is at Great Steeping, near Spilsby.
