RADIO 1 DJ and TV presenter Edith Bowman is the new star of the show at Market Rasen Racecourse’s Ladies’ Party Night on Saturday, August 18, replacing Sara Cox.
The ever-popular evening is the first of two Rasen Rocks events this summer with James Morrison in concert at the racecourse on September 1.
Edith Bowman (right), who hosts The Review Show on Radio 1, will perform an outside DJ set after the evening’s horse races have been run.
Pip Kirkby, the Lincolnshire racecourse’s managing director, said: “Edith Bowman is a fantastic booking for Rasen Rocks 2012.
“We’re delighted to welcome such a successful Radio 1 DJ to our racecourse. Tickets for each night are selling well and we’re expecting both Ladies’ Party Night with Edith Bowman and James Morrison’s concert to be very popular indeed.”
Edith hails from Scotland, and having sent her show reel to MTV after working on her local radio station, she was signed up to work on MTV’s Daily Edition as a newshound, which led to her co-presenting MTV’s Hitlist UK with Cat Deeley.
Capital FM subsequently signed up the pair and in 2003 she joined Radio 1 to co-host the Colin and Edith Show with Colin Murray.
From 2006 she flew solo with her weekday Edith Bowman Show, and she has also become a well-known TV presenter, co-anchoring BBC1’s live coverage of the Royal Wedding last year.
Ladies’ Party Night, which will have a new feel to it this year with the disco set, already includes the annual Miss Market Rasen contest.
Tickets for both Saturday nights, August 18 and September 1, can be bought online at www.marketrasenraces.co.uk, by telephone on 0844 579 3009, or at the racecourse in person.
The prices are: Premier £32 (maximum of four tickets per person); County £25; Tattersalls £20; Family £15.
Tickets for children aged five years and over will cost £6 each, but these tickets are limited in number, so early purchase is advisable – there is a maximum of two children’s tickets per paying adult.
