Market Rasen is set to get funky this week with a new initiative to use the town’s market place for fun family events.

The idea for the event came from one of the monthly market traders and has been organised through a joint initiative from the town council and community champion for Tesco Jenny Stimson.

“We - Jenny, Steve Bunney, John Matthews and I - have worked very hard to try to make this a success,” said Jayne.

“Thanks go to everyone who is planning to take part from the stall holders, to musicians and many, many more.

“Now, we just need the people to come and support it.”

The evening of fun and entertainment runs from 4pm to 9pm and will feature games, food, stalls and live music from Da Capo and Felicity Turner.

The evening will be raising money for four charities - British Heart Foundation, Diabetes, Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and Motor Neurone Disease.

And to get things started, town mayor John Matthews took part in a treasure hunt at Tesco, which saw him racing round the store to find items from the clues shouted out by Jenny Stimson.

He completed the task in 4 minutes 25 seconds and the full trolley of food was donated to this week’s Funky Friday event.
