Folk focus for workshop day and concert

Some of the county’s folk musician will be showcased at an event in Faldingworth Village Hall this Saturday, May 17.

In collaboration with Folk 21, Lincolnshire Folk is holding a workshop for all folk organisers in the county and surrounding areas.

This free event is an opportunity for club organisers to get together to share their views and to explore how improvements can be made to the lot of folk venues in our area.

Up to two committee members of each venue are invited and the day includes an evening concert, also free for the two committee members attending, showcasing seven excellent folk acts who are not well known in this county.

Programme for the afternoon workshop:

12noon - Registration.

Soup and bread roll, will be available, but must be pre-ordered - cost £1. Tea, coffee, and soft drinks will also be available through the afternoon to buy. The bar will also be open.

1.30pm - 4.30pm Kelly Alcock (Secretary) of the Folk 21 National Committee will start the workshop explaining the purpose of Folk 21 and how that leads into the purpose of today’s event.

1.45pm - 2.45pm 13:45 – 14:45 The first part of our afternoon will be hosted by. This part of the afternoon will be taken up with Workshop activities based around aspects of folk event organisation, hosted by Sue Dewsbury (Secretary) of Lincolnshire Folk. These will include the use of the media, including social media, and sharing examples of good practice. Tom Lane and Anne Irving will also be speaking in this part of the afternoon.

1.45pm - 3pm Short interval

3pm - 3.30pm Music provided by Jess Vincent & Marcel Rose

3.30pm - 4.30pm 15:30 – 16:30 Discussion on issues particularly relevant to Lincolnshire folk clubs and venues, hosted by Sue Dewsbury. Specific topics requested should be submitted in advance.

4.30pm - 7pm Meal available, £5 per head. Must be booked in advance - Cottage Pie, Ham Salad with New Potatoes or Salmon Salad with New Potatoes.
