In the 800th anniversary year of Magna Carta, the 2015 Lincoln Book Festival looks at topics of freedom, liberty and medieval Lincolnshire.

The Festival takes place at The Collection over six days – from Monday September 28 to Saturday October 3 – with a series of evening events and a daytime family workshop.

Each evening event includes a talk from two expert authors in their fields - from 7th century Arabia, through the American Revolution, to post-war Britain. Tickets cost £10 per evening and can be booked from Lincoln Drill Hall Box Office in person, on 01522 873894 or online www.lincolndrillhall.com

A date for your diary: acclaimed author and broadcaster Melvyn Bragg talks about his new novel Now is the Time on Tuesday November 3, 7pm, at Lincoln Cathedral.

It is a thrilling recreation of the biggest rebellion in English history – the so-called Peasant’s Revolt.
