Brigg Christmas Market and the turn on ceremony for the town’s new Christmas lights attracted a large crowd to the market place for the start of the festive season.

Given the honour of performing the switch on was Barry Gray, who has until this year masterminded the putting up of the festive lights in the town for 40 years.

Town Mayor Edward Arnott helped him press the magic button to light up the town, alongside the stars of Dick Whittington this year’s North Lincolnshire pantomime at the Plowright Theatre.

In the market place, the Angel Suite and down into Wrawby Street, there were craft and charity stalls; children sang carols on the stage and Father Christmas arrived courtesy of Brigg Lions.
