West Lindsey churches open their doors for festival event

St Thomas’s, in the town’s market place, will be awash with colour with a number of flower displays on the theme of wedding anniversaries.

There is also an opportunity to find out about the history of St Thomas’s and its connection with Jane Austin.

Anhyone who would like to see the town from a different aspect can climb the tower and take in the view.

Refreshments, including light lunches, will be on sale in the church rooms and on Saturday, there will be an organ recital at 12 noon.

The weekend also marks the start of a week of prayer.

The Thy Kingdom Come prayer initiative May 8 to 15.

As part of this there will be seven prayer stations around the church based on The Lord’s Prayer.

Market Rasen Methodist Church will also be open on both days.

On the Saturday morning, from 10am to 1pm, they will holding their spring fayre, raising money to help maintain this impressive building.

Light lunches will be served between 11am and 1pm.

Over at Caistor, St Peter & St Paul Church will be open both days featuring an exhibition to celebrate their links with the community.

Photographs, artefacts and literature will all be on display showing not only religious celebrations, but how the church is involved in all aspects of community life, sometimes in ways unexpected and unnoticed.

The town’s Methodist Church will be open on Saturday only, from 10am to 4pm, with Christian Aid lunches being served between 11.30am and 1pm.

Churches throughout the eastern area of West Lindsey will also be opening this weekend, most between 10am and 4pm, and some of the highlights are given below.

On May 14 and 15, it will be the turn of the churches in the western area of West Lindsey.
