Step back in time for grand summer fete

The event was hosted by Jonathan and Rachel Gibbons, who opened their splendid Georgian house and gardens to the public.

There was something for everyone on the day, including traditional games, cream teas, cakes and a constant supply of tea.

No garden party would be complete without a Pimms stall, where master brewer Tom Wood was on hand to quench the thirsts of those exhausted by a vigorous game of skittles.

In keeping with the Georgian setting, visitors were entertained by Lincolnshire’s very own Regency Dancers, who transported everyone back to the time Thomas Wilson’s rules of ballroom etiquette ensured dances were orderly.

“We half expected Colin Firth to emerge from the tennis court at any moment,” said one visitor.

The fete raised more than £1,000, which will be split equally between the local first responders group and the Moot Hall restoration fund.
