Rotary Charities have benefited from a ‘Frugal Supper’ held in Caistor Town Hall.
Instead of their usual fayre, Market Rasen and District Rotarians had pie and peas, with the difference in price, charged to all Rotarians, present or not, producing the sum of £279.50 which, together with raffle proceeds of £36, will go toward Market Rasen’s contribution to Rotary Foundation for the year.
Guest speaker at the event was Angela Lawrence, who shared an interesting, and at times humorous, insight into the work of a West Lindsey District Councillor, including her various roles held on numerous committees.
The Foundation team, led by Caistor Rotarian, Stuart Davis, has also been selling button hole purple crocus, to raise funds for the Rotary Polio eradication appeal, which is being matched in funds collected by the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation (Microsoft).
The team has so far raised £300, including £55 at the MR BIG market in November.
Rotarians were on a high, thinking there were only three small areas in the world to conquer endemic Polio, but recently an outbreak in Syria has caused concern.
So the fight goes on and Stuart would welcome any further contribution to swell the funds - call 01472 851041.
