Mallory's magic sees her rise to reading challenge at Caistor

When it comes to books there's no doubt about it, eight­year-­old Mallory Marchall has created her own spot of reading history by becoming the first person to finish Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre's reading challenge.

Marvellous Mallory whizzed and popped through six books in two weeks to be the first to complete the Big Friendly read and Library Volunteer Jane Barnes was on hand to issue the final collectors’ cards to Mallory, along with a prize for completing the challenge.

This year’s challenge is themed on Roald Dahl stories so Mallory got to know the likes of the BFG (Big Friendly Giant), Willie Wonka and James and the Giant Peach, as they are all featured in the library.

There is still time for children to get involved in the reading challenge, just go along to the library to sign up.

    There are prizes to collect along the way plus an online game.

    “Children can also join in our activity days every Thursday throughout the summer holidays and meet our very own BFG in the library,” said Stephanie Dale, Centre Manager.
