While one commemoration of a remarkable contribution to the Great War closes another of the stoical heroism of a
single local family continues.
The unparalleled sacrifice made by Friesthorpe’s Beechey family will be further recalled through a community play in Armistice Week, The Last Post.
And the Lincoln Mystery Plays is working hard drilling actors, rehearsing roles, writing music and gathering appropriate costume and props.
The play is inspired by the 300 letters the Beechey brothers wrote home to their mother Amy and five sisters.
A true community remembrance of the Beechey family’s dignity and extraordinary sacrifice, it was written and researched locally to be performed in the very place where men trained in readiness for war a century ago – Lincoln Drill Hall.
Join the Lincoln Mystery Plays company at the Drill Hall, in Armistice Week.
Performances are at 7pm on November 12, 13, 14 and 15, with a 2pm matinee on Saturday 15.
Tickets cost £12 and £10 from www.lincolndrillhall.com or 01522 873894.
