The authority is working with the owner of the town’s Advocate Arms hotel and restaurant, Darren Lince, who has planned a wedding fair for Sunday, May 22.

The fair will be open from 11am until 4pm and entry is free.

There will be more than 20 exhibitors from across the region at the event, featuring everything from cakes, wedding suits and bridal wear, to flowers, magicians and photographers.

The Festival Hall will also be ‘dressed’ to hold a reception, with example layouts, and tables and chairs set for a big day.

Business associate Nicola Marshall, who is leading the council’s Festival Hall renovation project, said: “It’s a way for us at the town council to expand the market for weddings in the venue, and to get more exposure for the venue.

“It’s a win, win situation for us - and it gets Market Rasen on the map.

“We’re quite excited about that.”

And Ms Marshall added that the Festival Hall’s facilities were ideal for wedding parties.

She said: “We’ve got a professional catering kitchen, which he (Mr Lince) can make use of.”

Ms Marshall said that currently, the Festival Hall hosts up to 15 weddings per year.
