A Brigg air cadet is celebrating after becoming a gold-winning national athletics champion.
Chad Dawson, a student at Caistor Grammar School, beat off rivals from across the country to take first place overall in the Air Cadets National Athletics Championships 100 metres, with a time of 12.39 seconds.
The 15-year-old then went on to compete in the 4 x 100m relay, where the team came second with a time of 50.9 seconds.
Out on the field, Chad also competed in the Javelin event, where he contributed yet another medal to the team’s collection, this time a bronze, taking third place.
“Sports and especially athletics is one of my favourite activities of the Air Cadets, and I always do my best to attend any sporting event and give them 110 percent effort,” said Chad.
“I’m more than happy that all the practice and effort has paid off.
“My future aspirations are to get to this level again and if possible represent out country. If not, I have personal bests which I intend to better.”
Chad, from Goxhill, qualified through to the Wing and then Regional levels to represent Central and East Region at the national event, which was held at RAF Cosford.
He has been a member of the Brigg Air Cadets for a number of years and has a life long ambition to join the RAF.
Brigg Air Cadets is always keen to hear from young people, aged 13 to 17, who would like to become cadets, as well as adults who wish to become instructors, with the opportunity to do something different and take part in a wide range of outdoor activities and training, including the opportunity to gain qualifications.
