Vintage racing to the fore at Cadwell Park

CADWELL Park will go back to a bygone era when the Vintage Sports-Car Club arrives at the track on Saturday, June 20.

The VSCC showcases some of the most revered historic vehicles in motor racing history, with cars dating back to 1913 contesting the day’s proceedings by racing hard on the 2.1 mile circuit.

With free paddock access, spectators are able to get close to these fabulous machines.

The day features 11different vintage races with the Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophy for Formula Two cars from the 1950s heading the proceedings. Local driver Warwick Banks from Bourne will be hoping to take home the trophy in his 1954 Cooper Bristol.

As well as the Formula Two cars, there will be nearly 200 pre-war cars spanning an era when cars were built with imagination and flair, leading to some very spectacular looking machines!

Other highlights include a race for Morgan Three-Wheelers, the John Holland Trophy for pre 1931 racing cars, the Geoghegan Trophy for pre-war sports cars and the Melville Trophy for pre-war sports cars.

Practice for the racing begins at 9am with the programme of 11 races from about 1pm.

Adult tickets 13, under 12s free. Details on 0870 950 9000 or visit www.cadwellpark.co.uk.
