Vintage buzz at Cadwell circuit
THE Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) held its championship at Cadwell Park on Saturday.
The original ethos of the championship from 1934 still stands today in that the VSCC is about actively enjoying the country's motoring heritage.
Headlining proceedings on Saturday was the Shuttleworth & Nuffield trophy for Formula Two cars from the 1950s.
This prestigious trophy was keenly contested by a large grid.
The oldest car on display, was a 1913 Vauxhall Viper. This 96-year-old machine was powered by an engine that is nearly 12 litres in size, making it one of the most spectacular cars to ever grace the two mile circuit.
Other highlights included a race for Morgan Three-Wheelers, the John Holland Trophy for pre 1931 racing cars and the Geoghegan Trophy for pre-war sports cars.
Results: Morgan Motor Co Challenge Series winner Hamish Bibby; Shuttleworth, Nuffield & Len Thompson Memorial Trophies winner Duncan Ricketts; Spero Trophy Race winner William Mahany; Melville Trophy Race winner Jonathan Cobb; Geoghegan Trophy winner Mike Preston; Formula 3 (500s) winner Mike Fowler; The John Holland Trophy Race winner Gary Caroline.
