Harvey Salmon who has been selected for the Elite Develoipment Group

A young Rasen and Louth rugby player has been selected for the Elite Player Development Group (EPDG).

Harvey Salmon from the U14 squad has recently been training with the Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire (NLD) School of Rugby and from there has been selected for EPDG, which is a partnership between the RFU and the premiership clubs.

The group helps to develop players with the potential to eventually progress through to becoming a professional rugby player.

Leicester Tigers run the EPDG for this region at four satellite centres across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire and Norfolk and Harvey will attend regular training and assessment sessions at Newark RFC.

At the end of the U14 – U16 programme, players with the right ability or potential may be selected both for the Tigers Academy and the Midlands Region, which could then lead to a career as a professional rugby player and possible international honours.

Rasen’s U14s train on Tuesday night from 6.30pm – 8pm and on Sunday morning from 10.30am, if there is no match scheduled.

New players are always welcome in that age group and all the other age groups from U6 to U18.
