Rasen in seventh heaven after successful return

For the full story see this week's Market Rasen Mail - Out now

After an absence of many years, the Lincolnshire sevens tournament returned to the rugby calendar when Horncastle played hosts to the competition on Saturday.

However, only four clubs entered, but with Horncastle and Lincoln fielding two sides each, the trophy was contested by six teams.

With so few participants, the format of the competition was a convoluted affair with a round robin league, where each team played the others to determine the semi finalists.

Rasen, playing in their unfamiliar pink jerseys, began the tournament with a game against Lincoln I. After sparring with each other in the early stages as the two teams adjusted themselves, Chris Green darted over the line to register the first score before calmly slotting the drop kick conversion.
