RAIN yet again ruined a more promising Saturday in the Lincolnshire Cricket League programme.
Sadly warm afternoon sunshine gave way to tea time downpoors and many matches had to be abandoned. The localised nature of the showers meant some games did get through to a finish however.
Caistor batted first at Cherry Willingham and posted 145 for nine, Sahan Wijerathne 63, and the home side were 38 for two when the game was abandoned.
It was a hard luck story for Caistor as they started the day in 2nd place in the Premier League and could not make up ground to mount a challenge at the top.
In Division 2 a close game was shaping up at Brigg Road with Caistor 2nds chasing Keelby’s total of Keelby 96, Paul Ridley 5-20.
Caistor 2nds were on 67 for six when the game was abandoned. Owmby had similar ill fortune as having hit 146 for six, they had Nettleham 2nds on the ropes at 66 for six before the rain closed in and this game was also abandoned.
In Division 3 Cherry Willingham 2nds v Hibaldstow and South Kelsey 2nds v Barton Town 2nds were games in which no play was possible due to wet conditions.
In Division 4 Caistor 3rds are having some very mixed fortunes. They had some good fortune to escape defeat at Old Lincolnians who hit 142 – Caistor 3rds managing 41 for nine and then getting away with a draw as the game was abandoned.
