Pupils prove they’re a class apart at Yarborough race

In excellent weather conditions, 450 primary school children from nine schools visited Caistor Yarborough Academy to take part in an afternoon cross country event.

There were four races in total with the children chasing the academy ‘hares’ who led the way round the top field before tackling the tough slope of the bottom field before returning to the top field to the finish of the course.

The races were exciting and there were some fantastic duels coming up to the finishing tunnel as the children cheered on their team mates, urging them to go faster.

So many children were clearly tried their best and enjoyed the whole event, which the Yarborough Academy hopes to make an annual event.

In the girl’s years 3/4 event, Grasby won overall with Osgodby the runners up; winners overall in the boys 3/4 were Caistor, with Grasby second.

Osgodby were victorious in the girls 5/6 event, with Caistor 2nd; Caistor won the equivalent 5/6 boys race and Middle Rasen second.

Other schools taking part were Binbrook, Tealby, Ulceby, Kelsey and Keelby.
