Title race heats up in Rasen area pool league

An intense top-of-the-table battle that was not without controversy is the talk of the Caistor, Market Rasen and Binbrook pool league.

The Click’em A recorded a 6-3 victory over the reigning champions The George Inn although there were claims of unsporting behaviour.

This victory keeps the Click’em unbeaten throughout the first half of the season and puts them two points clear of their opponents.

The George will be looking to regroup next week when they host the Click’em B, while the A side welcome the Hope Tavern who should not be ruled out of the title race just yet.

The Hope recorded a 6-3 win on the tough table of The Plough.

The Aston Arms B got back to winning ways this week, after having only picked up four points in the past three weeks of competition, as they handed out a 7-2 beating to the Lightning Bar A, who find themselves four points adrift of safety.

The Lightning have a
big week coming up as
they face a MRSC team languishing at the foot of the table and given the three sides above them face The George, Aston and have a bye, there is a real opportunity to gain ground on their rivals.

The final game of the week saw the Click’em B go down 5-4 at home to the Crown, Glentham.

Next week is huge for this top division, the Hope have two big games, the Lightning may be out of the relegation zone, there could have a top of the table clash for the second week in a row.

In the second division only two games went ahead.

In the first The Bottle and Glass, a resurgent force in the last two weeks, travelled to the Lightning B and came away with a 6-3 victory to go six points clear at the top of the league.

In the previous week they battered the Market Rasen Cricket Club 9-0 to reassert themselves as the dominant force after a three week stretch of defeats and surprisingly close matches.

The second match saw the Butchers Nook go down 5-4 at the MRCC.

Coming off the back of the 9-0 hammering the cricket club players were determined not to face a similar fate as the previous outing and their determined efforts were rewarded with a great win.

This defeat will not
damage the Butchers promotion hopes, although they will have to dig in and pick up some hefty results in the near future to challenge the Bottle for the title.
