Riding high... and on their way to Olympia

YOUNG riders at a pony club have gained bronze awards after only six months of training.
Four riders from Caistor Equestrian Centre’s Pony Club have been presented with bronze certificates during an awards ceremony – and the rest of the youngsters won badges for their various achievements.
Ruth Walker, Ettie Proctor, Demmi Jennings and Rebeeca Whinn were thrilled to be presented with their prizes by intelligent horsemanship practitioner Gary Bosworth.
The Pony Club is a widely recognised national organisation which allows young riders to gain a firm and knowledgeable position within the equine world, enabling them to become confident, competent riders. The Caistor branch only set up in April.
Caistor Equestrian Centre events co-ordinator Liz Earle said: “The Pony Club has a system whereby a riding school such as Caistor Equestrian Centre can organise Pony Club activities and training using the centres horses.
“This allows non-owners to gain the same education, training and, above all, fun that an owner can enjoy within the same structure.
“We also encourage the children to compete the horses at on-site competitions, again affording them the same opportunities as owner riders.”
Several children showed particular dedication to the club and have been rewarded with a trip to the Olympia Horse Show.
The Pony Club is open to any rider up to 21 years old. For more information call Caistor Equestrian Centre on 01472 859341.
